We are very excited to share that Watershed’s Researcher in Residence, Dr Erinma Ochu, has been promoted to Professor in the School of Arts at UWE Bristol (effective of 31 July 2026).
Jo Lansdowne, Director of Research at Watershed, says:
"I am thrilled that Erinma has been recognised in this way. As our inaugural Researcher in Residence, Erinma has had a transformative effect on Watershed's ideas, practices and ambitions. And as my partner in a mutual research exchange they inspire me every day. At Pervasive Media Studio we believe that the future is collective and working with Erinma makes that feel real in the present. Congratulations from all of us!"
Erinma says:
“After a thirty-year journey moving from science into the arts, it’s an honour to have that recognised by colleagues, collaborators and peers. Being Watershed’s Resident Researcher and belonging to the Pervasive Media Studio community makes this moment truly meaningful. I dedicated my PhD to my dad, Eke, an engineer, and I now dedicate the Professorship to my mum, who works in the arts and gave me the foundational education to attempt such a journey—I hope to pass this on to future generations. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way including my family, Caroline, Augustus and Charlie the cat."

Please join Erinma and Jo to celebrate, and also share your own summer news in the Studio kitchen with tea and cake on Friday 24 July, 2.30 - 3.30pm.
