Most of us are used to GPS and take being able to locate yourself outdoors for granted. But what about indoor positioning? Why is it so
much harder and what options are out there?

Tom Melamed, Product Director of Calvium and Dan Williams, Creative Technology Research Associate at the Pervasive Media Studio gave a talk in October on precisely this.

In the talk they covered several different options for indoor positioning and talked about the pros and cons of each solution with practical advice based on personal experience. They also covered things like the systems built into iPhones and Android, custom hardware
solutions like ultrasound and ultrawide band and they showcased their homegrown positioning system based on WiFi.

Many of the questions discussed are as a result of the PIRL pilot being developed with Bristol Old Vic. Download the Slidesfrom the talk.
