This week has brought some exciting people and happenings to the Studio. As Mayfest roars merrily around the city, Becky is away working with the Mayk team and I'm happy to be filling her shoes on the front desk.

We've also been part of the Mayfest joy as Magna Mysteria is in development here, although understandably Mercurial Wrestler have not been letting us in on any of their magical pervasive secrets. The piece launched yesterday and I'm told mysterious things have already taken place. Keep your eyes peeled for the magician.

Stand + Stare are up in Manchester this week at Future Everything. They presented Mass Observation through Theatre Jukebox, their immersive theatre booth developed as part of an iShed residency here at the Studio. The piece uses material and inspiration from the Mass Observation Archive, which documented everyday life in Britain from 1937 to the early 1950s, and continuously since 1981. Jo has also been at the festival since Wednesday checking out all the exciting work on display.

The DCRC ran a Value Networks workshop this Monday. They hosted the event to share knowledge with representatives from Battersea Arts Centre, National Theatre Wales, Arnolfini and Watershed.

Calvium have had a busy week for publishing! They published a white paper on why digital media agencies need a mobile app strategy. Read it online here to find out where the rapidly maturing app market is going, and how your business can benefit from having an app. They also published the SATSYMPH app they've been working on with Studio resident Ralph Hoyte. Ralph’s project, ‘On a Theme of Hermes’ will be officially launching at events on 9 June at Mshed and 10 June at Arnolfini.

Red Wasp are busy planning their Student Ideas Challenge taking place at the Studio on Wednesday 6 June. Students from local universities will be showing off their talents to an industry panel to win prizes and mentoring support. The event will be followed by networking, drinks and nibbles. Reserve your place asap by contacting Red Wasp's Debbie: debbie.connor@redwaspdesign.com

If you are thinking of applying for one of our two artist's residencies, we have just announced a series of surgeries for you to come and meet with iShed producer Victoria Tillotson, to ask any questions you may have and to discuss your ideas.

If you'd like to work with us we are looking for someone brilliant to be the Pervasive Media Studio Assistant. You can find more details at www.watershed.co.uk/jobs

Other than that, the REACT Producers are on the road, networking around the South West following their recently announced theme for the next Sandbox: Books and Print. Victoria is away in Recife, Brazil this week along with Tim Kindberg and Julian Sykes running an Ideas Lab with Porto Digitale. The rest of the Studio team have been making excellent use of spare space their absence has created, doing cartwheels, that sort of thing.

Enjoy your weekend!
