There are plenty of interesting free events to get stuck into at the moment including a wonderful line up of Studio Lunchtime Talks, the British Council's Blurring the Lines exhibition, OpenCo Bristol and Bath's Innovation Showcase and 'The Mothershed'.

Studio Producer Verity and Creative Technologist David gave a brilliant Lunchtime Talk about Shadowing today. Verity introduced the Bristol-born Playable City concept and then gave us an insight into how the Shadowing was conceived, and people’s reactions to it. If you haven’t played with shadows in the nooks and crannies of Bristol yet, find out where you might be able to stumble across one on the Shadowing website.

This week, we had an intensive Studio shake-up, where we all uprooted and moved around. After finding new homes for project paraphernalia and de-cluttering, we have managed to make space for more hot-desks, and a space for working on practical projects. This means, as well as inviting you to hot-desk on Open Studio Fridays, we can also invite you tinker about and make brilliant things!

Next Thursday, as part of OpenCo Bristol and Bath’s Innovation Showcase, Bristol’s tech hubs will open their doors to curious executives, entrepreneurs, investors, and future influencers for a close up tour around a vibrant cluster of tech start-ups and companies. Clare Reddington will be giving a Studio tour and talk in the afternoon. Find out more about OpenCo and sign up here.

A few of the Watershed team have been producing a show for the British Council called Blurring the Lines. The exhibition explores culture in flux at a time when growing populations, technological advancement and access to resources are completely altering the way we live, communicate and experience culture. Running from 2 October -19 December at the British Council’s London headquarters, Blurring the Lines will showcase sixteen projects illustrating the different ways in which people are reinventing participation and exploration.

Bristol Bright Night is taking place tonight in Watershed, Harbourside and @Bristol. The event celebrates Bristol's place as a home for cutting-edge research through a free showcase of interactive, hands-on activities including exhibitions talks and street performances. There are a few Studio projects being showcased alongside talks, workshops and demos, including Nth Screen, Objects Sandbox prototypes and Reach Robotics’ MechaMonsters (to find out more about these, come along to the Lunchtime Talk on the subject on 31 October).

Next weekend, Watershed will become 'The Mothershed' as part of the Fun Palaces initiative that is sweeping the nation. As the event co-incides with the Watershed cinema's sci-fi season, the weekend will have a decidedly spacey twist. A few Studio projects will brought out into Watershed's public spaces to be played with, including Silas's MechaMonsters and Guerilla Dance Project's interactive dance floor. Find out more about the line-up for Saturday or Sunday.
