Watershed are delighted to introduce Dr Erinma Ochu as our inaugural Researcher in Residence.
As an artist, biologist, and thought leader, Erinma’s transdisciplinary approach to research and creative innovation brings fresh perspectives to how knowledge is produced and shared.
Beginning in Autumn 2025, Erinma is supported through a new Watershed investment of £20,000 designed to nurture creative research that bridges equitable practice and reflection. The role builds on an ongoing collaboration between Erinma and Watershed’s Director of Research Jo Lansdowne - grounded in their shared commitment to mutual learning and creative exchange.
During the residency Erinma will delve into mutual studies, a practice of knowledge exchange that values learning together through reciprocity, respect and moving beyond traditional top-down approaches. This builds on Erinma’s experience of the failures of dialogues, co-inquiry initiatives and communities of practice that primarily centre humans.
Erinma will continue to work closely with Jo to explore ways of gently connecting this inquiry with the Pervasive Media Studio community, inviting others to participate in generative, curiosity-driven exploration. Erinma will attend to slower, regenerative research practices that embrace multiple perspectives and ways of knowing that sustain life.
Watershed's financial support has been made possible through organisational funds from Joseph Rowntree Foundation's Imagination Infrastructures.
