In this Lunchtime Talk, Jonny Cotsen will share his artistic journey as a Deaf artist, performer and creative practitioner. he will talk about where his creative journey began (at Pervasive Media Studio!), the experiences that shaped him, and how being Deaf has influenced the way he sees, makes and experiences art. From discovering his own creative voice to working across theatre, performance and Deaf culture, he will reflect on the challenges, opportunities and turning points that have shaped his practice.

Jonny will also explore his work today and his passion for creating spaces where Deaf artists and audiences can feel seen, represented and included. The talk will be an honest and personal reflection on identity, creativity, access and collaboration, as well as the importance of challenging the barriers that Deaf artists continue to face. 

Jonny hopes to share not only his story, but also some of the lessons, ideas and inspirations he's gained along the way.

The Lunchtime talks take place in the Pervasive Media Studio Event Space. To access the Studio, please go to the Main Watershed Box Office entrance and go upstairs to the Café Bar. Walk across the cafe bar, turn right and walk towards the double doors. Go through into the corridor and walk all the way down until you reach the Studio. A member of staff will sign you in, and check your ticket, if you have booked.

The Studio is wheelchair accessible, and the events space has a hearing loop. The last talk of every month is BSL interpreted.
