Our final event is looming into sight...

We have been busily collecting people's perceptions on what is magic and have come up with some interesting revelations which will feed into our final piece.  The major one seems to be that people experience magic in the natural world, as natural occurrences that render the familiar - unfamiliar.

This is a real inspiration to us in creating the kind of illusions, using pervasive media technologies, that will create ‘magic'
in everyday life and form part of our narrative journey.

Our final experiment as part of this residency will be to install a space at Watershed which takes you inside the world of the magician. A place of trickery and intrigue, where magic and illusions are triggered as part of an intimate personal experience.

People will take a seat at the Magician's desk where a series of events will occur based around these categories of tricks:  production, vanishing, restoration, escape, levitation, and prediction.  A story is told and we will investigate the audience's meaning making in relation to the narrative.  This will give us information on how people interact with the environment, what tricks are better in givinginformation and how people respond to magical illusions in an intimate environment.

Our ambition is to take these small scale illusions and work with them on a larger scale in the ‘real' environment, placing magic in people's everyday lives.  This will form part of our large-scale site-specific performance piece: Patter.  Patter will create personalised magical experiences for audiences in the ‘real' world, and in a magical theatre space where the story of the Magician and his illusionary world is told.

Patter - a story that directs the attention of the audience wherever the magician wishes, designed to produce a desired response from its audience.

Keep your eyes peeled at Watershed for our magical installation...
