'Virtual Realities – Immersive Documentary Encounters’ is a two and a half year EPSRC research project. The two post holders will be expected to collaborate with academics from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bristol, Department of Psychology at the University of Bath, and Digital Cultures Research Centre at the University of West of England, as well as partners including the BBC R&D, Guardian, Aardman Animations and MIT DocLab. This is an exciting opportunity to join a strong interdisciplinary team to explore how the affordances of Virtual Reality (VR) for immersion and interaction can take forward documentary’s mission for storytelling about our shared world.
The applicant will be working with existing non-fiction VR pieces, as well as working alongside producers to create exciting new non-fiction VR path-finding prototypes that push the boundaries of VR development, to evaluate user experience, immersion, varying platform capabilities, and ethical issues to share best practices. The applicant will have a PhD in Computer Science (or closely related discipline) and have good experience of user testing, VR development and VR programming.

This post is offered on a full time, open ended contract with funding up to 30th December 2019.
It is anticipated that interviews will take place week commencing 18th September 2017.
