Craft + Technology Residencies 2013
A Music Memory Box for people with dementia, a flying lampshade that communicates feeling, and coins that trigger invaluable experiences: these were all part of Watershed's three month Craft + Technology Residencies, which ran between January and March 2013.i-DAT eagerly anticipates the forthcoming craft residencies. i-DAT researchers have a wealth of experience in the creation of digital artefacts. What we do parallels the work of practitioners within craft and maker domains - with it's reliance on practical skills, knowledge of materials and originality of creative process.
i-DAT is digital craft.
With such synergies and commonalities, we have high hopes for the creative outcomes of these residencies. Outcomes that will unite the digital and the real-world with creations that are tangible, tactile, physical and astonishingly engaging.
