So this week has flown!

I have been concentrating on the mechanics behind scrapstore challenge!

Instead of focusing on one challenge, we’re entertaining the possibility of running 4 smaller tasks. This should test player’s ingenuity to solve tasks as well as the team’s ability to design. As an added extra the teams will not only receive points for functionality, but also for style. This enchants the potential of winning the competition through the player’s artistic talents.

I have a few questions in my mind that I will be exploring while I take scrapstore challenge through a testing phase, before delivering it to an external audience.

  • Do different locations mean different audiences?
  • How long can this type of play hold the attention adults for?
  • Who attends these things?

I’m already contacting potential sites to run the game to see if location it makes a difference.

During the cohort meet up scrapstore challenge had its first trial run. In teams of two, the players had to construct the highest tower possible to withstand gale force winds. The tower had to have a futuristic style.

This is how the teams did:

Unfortunately the teams only had 3 minutes to do this in and one team cheated, I won't say who...

In other news – a load of exciting new parts have arrived for me to play with! This includes an Ardiuno wave shield, FSR pressure sensor, solenoids and even a laser!

This weekend I’m off to Shambala festival. Festivals are one of my favourite places to see adults freely joining in with play. I will report back on what I find…!
