Undergoing a period of significant growth, Mechanimal is seeking a Freelance Creative Producer to help expand its activity and bring its productions to new audiences, especially through festivals and venues in the UK and EU.

Job Description 

FREELANCE CREATIVE PRODUCER

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining relationships with venues, presenters and programmers
  • Identifying opportunities for future touring, co-productions, and projects
  • Helping create show tour and installation schedules for Mechanimal's work to theatres, arts festivals, and other venues
  • Supporting logistics, scheduling, and planning of the company's activities
  • Contributing creatively to the development of new work
  • Assisting with fundraising, contracting, and general producing duties

Candidate Skills and Experience

  • A track record of producing contemporary devised theatre, live performance, and/or immersive installations
  • Experience touring productions internationally
  • Knowledge of UK & European arts funding landscape
  • Experience of collaborating with HE institutions, and HE funding streams.
  • Passion for environment and nature-related themes
  • Knowledge and experience of developing projects with a strong creative tech element (esp. Projection mapping and sound design)
  • Strong communication and writing abilities
  • A collaborative spirit and desire to work with a small team, in a growing company
  • Committed to sustainable travel and promoting sustainable issues creatively

  • Freelance role
  • 5 month fixed-term to start, possibility of extension
  • Can be based anywhere in UK
  • Flexible/remote working, but must attend essential events
  • £250/day, 6-8 days per month, flexibility as to which days

About Mechanimal 

Mechanimal is an award-winning theatre company originally from Bristol, England. It creates innovative live performances and immersive events that explore our relationship to a fast changing planet - nature, technology, climate and the more-than-human. The company has been funded by organisations like Arts Council England, Innovate UK, Nordic Culture Point, the Leverhulme Trust and Without Walls, and has developed work in partnership with institutions such as the NHM, Oxford University and UCL. Mechanimal has gained strong recognition over the past decade for its contemporary, devised, naturefocused performance work.
