Mo Haghighi is a Research Scientist at Intel, conducting research in the areas of smart cities and urban IoT. Based at Intel Collaborative Research Institute (ICRI) at Imperial College London, he drives technical contributions in on-going research projects, particularly the Capstone project, for successful field deployment of Intel technologies in London. He works alongside other ICRI partners including Imperial College, UCL and Future Cities Catapult to identify synergies among ICRI research and opportunities for their potential exploitation within Intel Labs.

Before joining Intel, Mo was a Senior Analyst in strategic technologies at ABI Research, where he focused his research and analysis on strategic consulting with prominent silicon vendors and technical strategy development in Enterprise M2M, IoT and IoE semiconductors.

Prior to that he was a postdoctoral researcher in the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Bristol. Within the SPHERE project (in collaboration with IBM and TOSHIBA), his research involved developing wearable and environmental sensors, as well as integrating optimisation algorithms, in order to facilitate optimal operation in sensor-based healthcare technologies. He had also worked as a research assistant within the Network Security group, where he investigated security-related issues in large-scale sensor networks and IoT as part of a European project: FORTOO (FORensic TOOls).

He conducted his PhD in a joint collaboration between the University of Bristol, the BAE Systems and Large-Scale Complex IT Systems (LSCITS). He also obtained a BEng in Electronic and Telecommunications engineering followed by an MSc in Wireless Sensor Networks. His industrial experiences includes working for Sun Microsystems/Oracle for over two years, and conducting research on WSNs in collaboration with the British Telecom (BT).
