Influenced by abstraction, symbolism and occult practices, Suzi Bratt tells stories exploring identity, perception and control. She is interested in the way information is transmitted and the perception of the “real”, as well as more intimate topics of grief and nostalgia. Her work encompasses writing, painting, photography, sculpture and digital media.

Fascinated by fantasy world building and game culture she haunts the wet sands and decaying glitz of British seaside towns and their arcades. Through these locations she examines the palimpsest of identities and otherworldly stories that exist between the flashing lights and boardwalk planks. Her current project explores the amusement arcade as a reflective world where we enjoy the game whilst aware of the rigging. We give offerings or tithes to the gods of chance to aid in our endeavours, questioning concepts of fate and belief as we play. The arcade becomes a library of games that asks you to experience other lives from within a safe, controlled and gamified setting, a potential playground for empathetic storytelling.

Recent projects include moving image work presented at Tate Lates: Sonic Disruption and a sculptural installation for RCA2024. Bratt lives between a narrowboat on London’s canals and her home-town of Bristol.
