
Rife Masterclass: Presenting and Politics with Rick Edwards

Rife Magazine, our online platform written for young people by young people are running a free masterclass on presenting and politics with Rick Edwards. The masterclass is open to 16 – 24 year olds and is a great opportunity to learn new skills, network and get some experience.
WHEN IS IT?: Thu 15 Jan 2015, 6.30pm–8pm (places allocated on first come first served basis)
WHERE IS IT?: Inside Watershed in the Pervasive Media Studio Events Space. Find your way up through the bar and follow the signs for Pervasive Media Studio, then ring the buzzer.
The talk will start at 6.30pm sharp and there will be plenty of time to ask questions afterwards. If you have any specific questions about your own work then it would be good to prepare those.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?: Our guest speaker, Rick Edwards, will talk about how a man with a natural sciences degree and some time on the London stand-up circuit ending up presenting a show called ‘Tool Academy’, fronting the Paralympics coverage on Channel 4, writing columns on ethical trading and style for The Observer, and kickstarting his own campaign to get more young people engaged in politics.
Whether you’re already creating and presenting your own material or interested in developing this craft he’ll cover:
- What makes a good television presenter
- What makes a good columnist
- Why young people should be more engaged with politics
- How to get yourself trained up for a career in broadcast
