Please note: This event took place in April 2022
Join us at the 17:50 screening of Benedetta on Mon 25 April which will feature Descriptive Subtitles and an introduction from our guest speaker, Jo Kimber, who is a writer, producer and zine maker. This will be followed at 20:00 by a post screening discussion in the Café & Bar with audience members and Jo. The evening will be hosted by Deaf artist, performer and filmmaker David Ellington and will feature BSL interpretation throughout.
Seasoned provocateur Paul Verhoeven (Elle, Showgirls, Basic Instinct) returns with this extremely fun and deliciously provocative psychosexual melodrama (based on a true story) about a lesbian nun in Renaissance Italy. In late 17th-century Tuscany young nun Benedetta (Virginie Efira) becomes entangled in a forbidden lesbian affair with a novice (Daphne Patakia) - but it is her blasphemous visions of Jesus that shock her fellow sisters and threaten to shake the Church to its core...
Benedetta is a gleeful, no holds barred romp of a film - join us for an unholy good time!
Please join us in the Café & Bar for an informal discussion after the screening, which will include BSL interpretation. You’ll receive 10% off drinks with your cinema ticket – so grab a glass and let us know your thoughts about Benedetta.
