BFI Film Academy Short Course

This short course helps train and inspire the next generation of UK filmmakers, supporting young people aged 16 – 19 to develop the commercial and cultural knowledge and skills to help make a career in film. 

You don’t need any prior experience in filmmaking. Across all courses, you can expect to:  

  • Take part in masterclasses and practical workshops delivered by industry professionals
  • See your ideas develop from script to screen. 
  • Learn how to work as part of a production crew to create a short film.  
  • Gain skills, networks, support, knowledge and confidence to move forward working in creative media. 
  • Have fun, meet great people, and watch lots of films.   

Delivered by us and Black Bark Films, you will learn to work in a production team and go on location to create a short documentary film. 

The course runs across ten full-day sessions 10:00 - 17:30 on the following dates: 

  • Sat 11, 18, 25 Oct
  • Mon 27, Tue 28, Wed 29, Thu 30, Fri 31 Oct
  • Sat 8, 15 Nov
