Established in 2002, DRAW is an independent artist group with a passion for drawing and the drawing process. The mutual support of the four's individual practices fuels the varied approaches to drawing that is utilised as a critical/educative tool. During their lunchtime talk, DRAW invite discussion as well as ideas & advice on how to incorporate 'digital technologies' into their project The Sensory Environment of a Portrait.

The project centres around their recent preoccupation with a process of drawing which uses solely the sense of 'touch' for drawing self-portraits. The 'self portraits' are created blindfolded/in the dark using one hand to touch your body/face whilst the other hand draws exactly what you are touching. Developed over a period of hours (10,20,30hrs) the drawings produced represent a schematic diagram of the paths traced by your hand across your figure. Interestingly, the mass of lines and layers produces a drawing which represents a type of 3-D framework on paper and is often recognisably figurative. We are looking to discuss the potential of removing the drawings from the plane of the page and displaying them in a manner which captures the motion of the process and reveals, to some degree, the importance of time in this process.
