Perceptual Technologies are pioneering a new technology, creating Moving images in ‘Vision-Space’ as opposed to picture space. Media that's inherently 3D but in unique ways more closely aligns with our natural visual awareness. Vision-Space is not on the 1,2,3D curve, instead it looks at experiential visual reality, known as ExpD.  Perceptual Technologies are modelling visual awareness in ways that contain aspects phenomenology, neuropsychology, neuroscience and physiology of the eye friendly!

This talk will be presented by John Jupe, a visual artist who has developed this new form of illusionary space based on perceptual structure. He will show live examples of how this the revolutionary approach incorporates important aspects of Jan Koenderink’s work on peripheral vision,  embracing the notion of vision as controlled hallucination as opposed to optical projection that we see in current screen-based media.

Vision-Space has been assessed as having 200 potential commercial applications across 12 industries and is highly disruptive technology with the potential to replace all forms of binocular fusion technologies. If we can understand the fundamental of perceptual structure it should be possible to establish one cross platform solution for all forms of information display.

This is an entirely new approach to how we experience visual images and has to be seen to be fully appreciated, so do join us for this lunchtime talk to see what is possible with your own eyes!

This Lunchtime Talk is part of Open Studio Friday, which takes place at the Studio every week.

Do you want to find out what is going on at the Pervasive Media Studio? Are you interested in meeting our residents, talking about a specific project or curious about pervasive media? Why not pack a sandwich and join us for one of our Lunchtime Talks and Open Studio Friday.

Lunchtime Talks are informal presentations by Studio residents and associates. They normally take place at 1pm on Friday, are free and open to everybody who’s interested in what we do.

After the Talk, we also invite you to stay with us for the afternoon to continue the conversation or work on your own projects. We provide chairs, tables, wireless and a great space. You bring what you need to work with (laptop/mobile). Our open afternoons close at 5pm.

Let us know if you’d like a tour of the space and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
