Every Friday we offer free, informal lunchtime talks from people sharing projects, process, ideas and provocations around pervasive media and creative technology. If you or someone you know should be a part of our programme, contact Martin O'Leary.

South West Big Data Group and our friends at Hewlett Packard present:

An informal talk by Allen Wittenauer of LinkedIn. He will speak about Hadoop Ops, a large scale data interpretation framework, giving an early insight into his thinking in advance of his keynote address at the Hadoop Summit EU the following week.

Allen's cluster is 600+ nodes, running LinkedIn's graph work, and is very unusual in that

-it's CPU intensive rather than IO bound

-Allen is prepared to talk about it.

Allen is notorious in the Hadoop community as the voice of operations -the loud voice- and is a committer on the hadoop projects. Prior to joining LinkedIn, he managed Yahoo!'s Hadoop clusters -and has the dirt on everybody in the Hadoop development space.
