Daniel Burwen has been hailed by Wired magazine for setting a new benchmark  for the medium of the graphic novel.

Location: Waterside 3, Watershed (not in the Studio this time)
Price: Free but booking is essential. Call 0117 927 5100 or book online.

CIA: Operation Ajax was one of the world's first graphic novel apps, exploring the possibilities of the iPad for interactive storytelling and changing the world of graphic novels for good.

With over 10 years experience in the creative industries, working in design and console games (EA Games, Activision) and interactive media (Walt Disney Imagineering), Daniel Burwen, the brains behind the Operation Ajax, joins us to share his thoughts and insight into interactive narrative and story-driven media.

Exploring how lessons learnt in the games world can be applied to digital storytelling, Daniel will present examples of successful interactive narrative, explore how different devices and interfaces change and enrich a story and deconstruct some of the mechanics of creating story-driven media.

Daniel is an internationally renowned speaker on this subject and has presented at venues such as SXSW, San Diego Comicon, Culture Tech, Ambulante, and IDFA DocLabs.

This talk is presented by REACT (Research and Enterprise in Arts and Creative Technologies) in association with Future Documentary Sandbox, six collaborations between arts and humanities academics and creative companies exploring the potential for digital storytelling.

This Lunchtime Talk is part of Open Studio Friday, which takes place at the Studio every week.

Tickets are free but this time booking is essential as we expecting to have more people wanting to come, than places to put you. To secure your place book here or call the Watershed box office on 0117 927 5100
