On Thursday, 18 Nov, Encounters Film Festival invited fashion popcorn to Bristol to host an afternoon around digital media and film in the fashion world. Teaming up with Stink‘s Stephen Whelan, Studio director Clare Reddington and Matter2Media‘s Tim Kindber, Emily Fleuriot and her featherhouse team delivered intriguing programme exploring the relationship between the fashion industry and the creative sector.

Fashion and technology - as far apart as they might seem at first glance - have become natural bedfellows, as Stephen Whelan describes. "Fashion is always seeking the new and the innovative, and technology is continually pushing boundaries. It makes sense to explore the relationships between the two."

Stephen's description set the starting point for the evening with industry representatives sharing their insights into fashion film, interactivity and consumer engagement in the digital age. With Tim Kindberg rounding up the showcase with a demo of his interactive Krstl mannequin (as well as his inspiration for involvement with the fashion and retail industries), guests and panel had the perfect springboard for a thought-provoking conversation while enjoying beautiful and tasty cakes provided by Pullins Bakery.

Fashion popcorn events are steadily gathering momentum, with the next one taking place on Wednesday, December 1 at The Crown Pub & Dining Rooms, sponsored by Geronimo Inns and Havana Club. (RSVP essential.)
