We are throwing open the doors to the Pervasive Media Studio, Watershed’s creative technology research space. We bring together a vibrant community of artists, technologists and academics to collaborate on research into the future of mobile and wireless media. We would like to invite you to see, touch and explore some of the unusual and innovative work that takes place here.

The Rolling Stones | Guerilla Dance Project | Reception
Where dance experience meets sculpture park meets soundscape experience. The Rolling Stones are Henry Moore-esque sculptures that make music which changes when you spin, stroke or lift the sculptures up. Guerilla Dance Project invite you to participate with your environment in a completely new way.
Turntable | Tim Kindberg
Imagine a table that behaves like a camera obscura, projecting images onto the surface in front of you as you share a drink or a chat. Imagine that the image in front of you knows where you are and swings around to show you films, games and images as you move. Turntable uses a number of pervasive technologies to suggest a whole new way to experience content.
AlphaSphere | nu desine | Edit Suite
The AlphaSphere is a new electronic musical instrument and controller which reinterprets the way we interact with sound. Its distinct design is made up of 48 pressure sensitive pads, which form a self-supporting spherical structure. There will be live demos in the Studio and a chance to get hands on and flex your musical muscles.
Theatre Jukebox | Stand + Stare
Theatre Jukebox is an arcade-style cabinet that tells stories in a unique way. RFID tags hidden inside a selection of cards allow the machine to trigger top-down projection and audio specific to each card. Audience members are invited to choose from the selection of cards and have control over how many and in which order they wish the stories to be played.

Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land | Red Wasp Design
Red Wasp have designed a turn-based strategy/role-playing video game based on the award winning Call of Cthulhu RPG. The game is set in the midst of World War One and pits a team of investigators and soldiers against an ancient evil, one older than humanity itself, who is using the carnage of the great war to build an undead army deep beneath the battlefields of Europe.
iMoov | TangibleFX
Experience live performance demos and have go at rocking out with the new iMoov app, a wireless motion MIDi controller that lets you express yourself by controlling your music in real time.
Pervasive Media Cookbook | Digital Cultures Research Centre, UWE
The Pervasive Media Cookbook is mix of cutting-edge practice and ideas emerging from the research kitchens of the Pervasive Media Studio Bristol U.K. It is designed to inform and inspire students and designers who want an introduction to the emerging field of pervasive media in which context aware devices deliver ‘the right media in the right place at the right time.
Channel Weather Symmetry | Geraint Ffrancon
Channel Weather Symmetry is a location-aware sound and music walk around Brean Down and Rhossili either side of the Bristol Channel, commissioned by the National Trust and Local Journeys and supported by a grant from the PRS for Music Foundation. We will be showing an accompanying short film of the project.
Instant Graffiti | Tarim
Instant Graffiti is a projection playground displayed on buildings. You can draw on a building or screen, in an Etch-a-Sketch style (but this one is in colour). Scan the QR code and play the demo.
SingSmash | Charlie Williams
SingSmash is a game you play by singing. Your touchtronic device listens and analyses the sounds you sing, and uses that to control gameplay elements. Different elements react to different notes, and as you progress through the game the notes change and grow in number. There are additional bonuses for exceptionally in-tune notes. Don't worry! The game is entirely theory-free and designed to be played by people with and without musical training.

danceroom Spectroscopy (dS) - part video game, part art installation, part immersive science visualisation, part social experiment and completely fun - will be awaiting your arrival. Fusing 3d imaging with real quantum mechanics, dS lets you visualize how your own energy field interacts with the hidden atomic world. Drop in to move, observe, play and, you guessed it - even dance! This is one game that plays with you as much as you play with it!

The Icebook, a pop up book, a miniature theatre show made entirely of paper and light, will sweep you right into the heart of a fantasy world as each page unfolds. Davy and Kristin McGuire's exquisite, enchanting creation is an intimate, immersive experience.
