Aisha (they/them) was a MyWorld Fellow working on Community Engagement through music & sound tech primarily at The Old Printworks in Radstock and The Studio in Bath Spa University as part of the MyWorld Ideas programme. 

Within their Fellowship they have spent 10 months at Old Printworks Arts in Radstock and The Studio (Bath Spa University's Innovation Hub). This was a practical Fellowship with a focus on community engagement and retention through music and sound technologies. This Community Fellowship responded to residents’ needs in Radstock wanting more technical and creative skills in music and sound technologies such as podcast production. 

This Fellowship was designed to research and trial new approaches in collaboration with The Studio in Bath and Radstock Community Arts Centre to focus on the following research question: what is the impact of using creative sound and music-making methods to build long-lasting and sustainable community bridges between city centre and nearby rural creative hubs?

Aisha is a Sound Artist, Improviser, Composer, Theatre Maker, Inclusion Producer and Workshop Facilitator. They love to work with the voice and create close harmony layers with interesting beats underneath and like to play with Foley. They have composed soundscapes, underscoring and songs for theatre shows and installations and are passionate about where Art meets Activism. They have done a lot of work in terms of Radical Inclusion in the Arts using Embodied Social Justice Methodology in workshops and policy making. They have also created a space for Artists from the Global Majority to be seen through their company, Kiota, which is Swahili for nest - a nod to the diaspora that were displaced from India during partition and ended up in Kenya. Kiota has recently started a choir which runs on the 1st Sat of every month at the Bristol Old Vic called Kiot Chorus.
