Jen is an artist and lecturer in Fine Art and New Media at Lancaster University. She has a practice-based PhD in Sociology from the Centre for Mobilities Research, where she is now artistic director. From learning to fly a light aircraft to stitching live GPS routes her work plays with the idea of what it might mean to inhabit mobile technologies. In collaboration with other artists, software designers and participants she makes work that explores processes of navigation, walking as a social research tool and how GPS might intervene in relationships between embodied views on the ground and the aerial perspectives of maps and satellite images. She has a spatial and tactile approach to technology, making installation work that invites participants to be co-creators.

Jen also works collaboratively with Hamilton, Southern & St Amand, and with Chris Speed at Edinburgh College of Art. Her work has been shown internationally in galleries and festivals.

Jen was the recipient of iShed’s Embedded Residency in 2011.
