I have been working as a performer, community artist, writer, and facilitator for almost 20 years. I have performed as a poet, actor and dancer in my own work and that of others on stages as diverse as Glastonbury Festival, Drum Theatre (Birmingham), and abandoned canal tunnels. My work often explores mythology, ritual, social histories, as well as human beings' interaction with the natural environment. I am interested in how people with differing cultural, racial, gender, age, economic, physical ability realities perceive the world, live in it differently, imagine it differently, and also what is common between their experiences and imaginations. In recent years I have been working with ideas of masculinity and patriarchy, particularly from the perspective of migrant black populations. As a fellow of the Bath and Bristol R+D program (Pervasive Media Studios, Bristol), I researched and created performances and art pieces looking at the rituals that recreate patriarchal patterns. As resident artist at Strange Brew this involved a film/music/poetry performance looking at oppression through the eyes of the history of the piano. I have also recently directed Rooted in Bristol, a social history of the experience of black people involved in urban food growing in Bristol. The film had a run at the Watershed in Bristol and has been featured and nominated at 3 film festivals including Kendal Mountain. I am currently working on a film about a small family farm in Herefordshire facing a historically significant transition in addition to a play as part of the Bristol Old Vic Ferment program exploring people with addiction issues' relationship with gentrification.

My work outside of the creative sector focuses on engaging young people and marginalised communities with environmental issues. In this capacity I help to lead nyce.org.uk, sos-uk.org, and globalgoalscentre.org as well as provide strategic and inclusion support to a range of local and national initiatives and organisations.
