Bristol+Bath Creative R+D are delighted to welcome Leticia Lozano to Bristol to talk about placemaking in Mexico City.

Leticia is co-founder and director of MACIA Estudio, a transdisciplinary practice challenging the boundaries between architecture, experience design and applied research. She has designed and implemented placemaking strategies, urban interventions, participation methodologies and public policy recommendations from a child-centered focus for various international organisations, governments and universities. Prior to MACIA, Leticia led “Playful City” for four years, an action-research strategy to demonstrate how play and playfulness can become urban design and development tools at Mexico City Government's Lab for the City.

Leticia will be asking, why is it important to push play as part of the public agenda in Mexico City? How does an analogue placemaking perspective have a positive impact on a Latin American Megalopolis that has systematically made decisions that do not put humans at the centre?

This talk will be hosted by Digital Placemaking Fellow Roseanna Dias. Roseanna is a producer who nurtures new networks, talent and inclusive practices through creative engagement projects with organisations like Trinity, Rising Arts Agency and Watershed. She is interested in collective, cultural networking and human centred approaches to digital placemaking.

Bristol+Bath Creative R+D is a collaboration between the region’s four universities - UWE Bristol, Bath Spa, the University of Bath and the University of Bristol - and Watershed that aims to raise the bar for the region’s creative industries. The five-year programme seeks to forge connections and partnerships in Bristol and Bath, sharing knowledge, creating crossovers and even greater opportunities in what’s already one of the most vibrant clusters in the UK.
