The Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme 2021

The Japan Foundation’s annual touring film programme goes online for the first time ever, presenting an exciting showcase of Japanese cinema exploring existence and belonging - and they're all available to view for free.
This year’s programme includes 18 titles that attempt to tackle question of place, existence and belonging in different landscapes - from comedies to crime thrillers, period dramas to titles focussed on LGBTQ+ issues. Showcasing voices belonging to a diverse group of filmmakers, including internationally recognised directors as well as emerging talent, this selection represents many different styles and forms.
The programme will be available from Fri 19 Feb to Wed 10 March - the screening dates for individual titles will vary. You will need to create an account on the Japan Foundation website by providing your name and email address. All the films in the programme are free to view.
