ONLINE: Film TikTok
Reframing Film
Please note: This event took place in July 2021
TikTok has boomed in popularity over the past year, with every subculture under the sun finding a home on the app, and Film TikTok is no exception. TikTok has allowed young film fans to create and share reviews, recommendations and re-edits of every genre and era of cinema, and in this panel, we will explore the emerging content, form and trend of Film TikTok and how young film fans can make the best use of the platform.
Join a panel of TikTok experts, including Queline Meadows creator of the viral video essays The Rise of Film TikTok, to unpick what makes Film Tiktok, or FilmTok, the perfect platform for young film fans to blend video essays, criticism and creative editing.
This event is curated by curator, producer and future film doctor Megan Mitchell, also one half of Matchbox Cineclub and presented in collaboration with Into Film and BFI Academy.
Queline Meadows is a Screen Cultures student at Ithaca College. Also known as kikikrazed, she creates video essays to learn more about the media that interests her. Queline is best known for “The Rise of Film TikTok,” which explores film culture and criticism through the eyes of Gen Z.
