Berlin-born twins Lisa and Sven share a lifelong passion for theatre but news of cancer brings the siblings together in this tender and compassionate tale of familial bonds.
Lisa (Nina Hoss), once a brilliant playwright, no longer writes. She lives with her family in Switzerland but her heart remains in Berlin where her twin brother Sven (Lars Eidinger), a famous stage actor, resides. News of Sven suffering from an aggressive type of leukaemia brings them even closer as Lisa returns to Berlin to look after him, doing all she can to ensure he keeps acting, knowing his work is the key to helping him fight his illness. When Sven’s condition worsens, Lisa brings him to Switzerland to stay with her and her family - neglecting everything else in her own life, including her marriage…
Writer and director duo Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond, assisted by superb performances by Hoss and Eidinger, delicately capture the close connection between siblings, a bond that transcends despite a devastating disease’s attempt to destroy it.
