Joey Pod

Joey Pod

part of Lunchtime Talks

Live stream

Please note: This event took place in Jan 2022

In this Lunchtime Talk, Angharad Davies will be talking about the evolution and development of the Joey Pod, a sensory pod for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The first prototype of Joey Pod was exhibited at Bristol Beacon in September, inspired by their son's love of music, but fear of unpredictability and overcrowding at live events. They will take us through the journey of designing the pod, how it has evolved and how it can be beneficial in public spaces, within the city, for people with neurological conditions.

Angharad Davies is a recent graduate in BSc Architecture and currently studying a Masters in Computational Architecture at UWE. As a parent to an Autistic child, they have used their own lived experience to drive their research and designs. Using stories from the ASD community they hope to create awareness of the need for more sensory friendly spaces and design.
