"In centring the writer’s sexuality in her lively and captivating documentary, filmmaker Eva Vitija does a great service not only to (Highsmith's) fans, but to all of queer history." - Jude Dryer, Indiewire

Eva Vitja’s illuminating documentary unveils the fascinating inner-life of Patricia Highsmith author of classics including Strangers On A Train and The Talented Mr. Ripley), who wrote the queer love story, Carol, under a pseudonym in the 1950s.

While the majority of Highsmith’s novels were adapted for the big screen, she was forced to lead a double life and hide her love affairs with other women from her family and the public. Only in her unpublished writings did she reflect on this ever-present subject for her.

Vitja offers her audience excerpts from these notes voiced by Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), beautifully interwoven with archive material of Highsmith and her most famous novel adaptions, to create a vivid, touching portrait of one of the most fascinating female writers in modern history.
