Celebrate the centenary of 16mm film with Graeme Hogge (Nachleben Film & Archive) for a day of hands-on workshops and live performances which will take place in the quirky gothic surroundings of The Crypt, St John on the Wall. It’s a chance to try your hand at splicing, dicing and projecting 16mm film and watch 16mm short films throughout the day. Ambient / techno artist Surgeons Girl will be performing live to Norman McLaren and Helen Biggar’s urgent work of animated anti-war agit-prop Hell Unltd (1936) with thanks to BFI National Archive.

This event is presented by Compass Presents as part of the 7th edition of Cinema Rediscovered. Look out for more 16mm events at the festival including a very special showing of Michael Snow’s landmark of avant-garde cinema Wavelength (1967) and a panel discussion about the way this film format transformed the way moving images were made and distributed at Cinema Rediscovered.
