Anthony Hopkins leads an all-star cast in this incredible true story of bravery and heroism, which follows a British humanitarian who helped save hundreds of children from the Nazis on the eve of World War II.
Anthony Hopkins and Johnny Flynn star as the older and younger Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton in this powerful story of the rescue of 669 Czech-Jewish children, first brought to light by BBC’s popular That’s Life! programme in the 1980s. Horrified by tales of refugees fleeing the Nazi-occupied Sudetenland, Winton, a young British stockbroker, son of German-Jewish parents, sets off for Prague and begins to find ways to bring out as many refugee children as possible. Aided by his formidable mother Barbara (played here by Helena Bonham Carter) and a coterie of dedicated activists, his mission faces seemingly impossible obstacles: how many children could he and the team rescue before the borders closed?
With outstanding performances from a starry cast, this is an inspiring and beautifully-told story of hope and determination.
