In this week's Lunchtime Talk, Narrative Designer and XR Storyteller Ruth Mariner and Artist and Creative Technologist Pod Bluman, share their process of developing I Am Your Mirror, an interactive multimedia installation.
The installation uses creative technology and movement to create social connection, which activates our mirror neurons — the part of the brain that enables us to understand the emotional states of ourselves and others - helping us feel seen, heard and connected.
Mariner and Bluman brought together a team of creatives and thinkers with expertise in dance, neuroscience, interaction and experience design, to respond to the question 'How can we activate our mirror neurons through movement and play?'
Join us online on YouTube Live, or in the building on Friday 5 July 2024 at 13:00 for the talk and to take part in the Q&A discussion afterwards.
The Pervasive Media Studio is a partnership between the Watershed, University of the West of England and University of Bristol. The lunchtime talks are partly supported by MyWorld, a project led by the University of Bristol to support creative industries in the region. Watershed is supported by Arts Council England.
*Please note this is a hybrid event and will be live streamed so please be aware you will be in the live broadcast and recording when watching in the Studio.
