The Room Next Door
classified 12APedro Almodóvar’s first English-language feature film stars Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore in a gorgeous, tender tale of a dying journalist trying to reconnect with an old friend.
Ingrid (Moore) and Martha (Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an auto-fiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter.
The two were separated by the circumstances of life but, after years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.
After having swept up the Golden Lion at this year's Venice Film Festival, Almodóvar’s 23rd feature harks back to his thematically similar Pain & Glory with his typical stylish flair.
