Thu 2 - Thu 16 Oct
Pervasive Media Studio, Watershed and Online
This is a free event, but you still need to book tickets.
Bristol is teeming with stories… what are yours?
We’re inviting Bristol’s poets to creatively explore the city through Pin the Tale, a digital mapping platform that brings poetry and place together.
This workshop is part of Watershed’s Home theme, a year of making, experiencing, and sharing ideas about what home means. We’ll use the app to guide us as we write poems inspired by Bristol’s hidden corners, personal landmarks, and meaningful spaces. Whether you’re just starting out or have been writing for years, this workshop is a chance to create, connect, and discover new ways of seeing the city.
Hosted at Pervasive Media Studio and led by poet Bridget Hart and Pin the Tale creator Jack Lowe, this is a workshop and networking event for poets of all levels.
About Pin the Tale
Pin the Tale is a digital storytelling platform that uses the what3words system to inspire creative writing. Accessible via any web browser, it invites users to write poems or stories based on unique three-word addresses tied to real locations — and to explore others’ contributions through a literary treasure hunt.
About the Facilitators
Jack Lowe (he/him) designs place-based games: interactive, playful experiences that create a sense of place or engage with real-world locations. Across formats including QR-code treasure hunts, narrative puzzle games, locative audio walks, board games and interactive theatre, Jack’s work is all about curiosity and mindful engagement with the world around you.
Jack is based in Bristol, where he is a resident of the Pervasive Media Studio and a postdoctoral researcher at UWE Bristol’s Digital Cultures Research Centre.
