Duma (dolls in Arabic) is the first film in the Arab world to deal with the sexual assault of women and girls in Palestinian society. Director Abeer, the creator of a puppet show which deals with sexual abuse in childhood, takes her camera and journeys from the north to the south of Israel, documenting Arab women who dare to reveal the sexual abuse they have endured in their close circle of family and friends. Together they aim to break the systems of silence which were imposed not only by society, but also by the families who were meant to protect them.

With an introduction by Anna Ball, Senior Lecturer in Postcolonial Studies at Nottingham Trent University, and followed by a Skype Q&A with director Abeer Zeiabk Haddad.

Ticket prices: £5.50 full / £4.00 concessions.
