Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in Jan 2016

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

In this week's talk, Alex Fleetwood joins us to talk about the amazing physical-digital-connected-party-stacking game Fabulous Beasts and its journey from rapid prototype development during REACT’s Play Sandbox, through to the launch of a Kickstarter campaign on 26 January.

Fabulous Beasts is a radical and fun new concept in games. A cooperative game for one to four players, who take turns to add animal, event and miracle pieces onto a balancing tower. Every piece added to the tower magically alters the ecosystem in the connected digital world. The aim is to make the most fabulous world possible before the tower collapses.

Fabulous Beasts is brought to you by Sensible Object, a team of game designers, artists and engineers who originally gave birth to the game right here at Watershed with support from REACT.

There will be opportunities to play Fabulous Beasts in Watershed’s Café/Bar over the coming weeks.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
