
BFI Film Academy Showcase

Join us for this special showcase of films made by the latest participants of the BFI Film Academy in Bristol and BFI Animation residential. Talented and ambitious 16-19 year olds have been working with Watershed, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Calling the Shots and University of the West of England to learn about what it's like to work in the film industry. Alongside mentoring from professionals, the group have had the opportunity to get hands on with all aspects of the industry, from pitching film ideas to programming live cinema events, from storyboarding to being on set. This event - organised by course participants - is an exciting opportunity to see their work and hear from the group about their experiences.

Watershed
Three short docs made for Rife Magazine, Bristol’s youth-led online platform. The docs explore what we should really be learning in schools, Isamophobia in Bristol, and a behind the scenes look at a mental health event curated by Film Academy participants.

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School
A short drama combining elements of live action and animation in a story about Andy who likes to stick to the beat of his headphones and the closed-off world inside his flat. His trusty dog Boo is the only thing breaking the monotony until Aura takes an interest. Andy's life is turned upside down, as he realises things are not always what they seem.
