Can We Rave in the Name of Science?

Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in March 2016

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

We love the look of Frissonic, a brand new night at The Island where partying and interactive theatre collide. Some of the residents of the Pervasive Media Studio (including iSci, Understory and Thomas Williams) are taking part, and the theme of the first night is Alchemy, where music and magic merge. Step into a world that blends old science with the new and be transported into an alchemical wonderland...

In this Lunchtime Talk we have invited Sophie Shaw, the founder of Frissonic to talk about the ideas and ethos behind their events that blend interactive theatre and partying into one evening. Sophie will discuss what she's planning for Frissonic's launch event and how she sees the project developing in the future.

Sophie says "Frissonic have one mission, to give you frisson". Ultimately Frissonic intend to create both a live experiment and a theatrical experience. The first experiment is themed around a modern-day alchemy ritual. Frissonic's launch event will be taking place in Bristol on Sat 19 March.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
