A thing of beauty is a joy forever - John Keats

Have you been moved by Moonlight? What do you think it tells us about the Black male experience from adolescence to manhood? Come the Revolution invite you to join in an exploration of Moonlight's themes of love, masculinity, sexuality and denial. Borrowing from the film's structure this three part discussion will feature provocations from spoken word, art and music, and all are welcome - whether you have seen the film or not.

Moonlight is cinematic beauty in waves. Finely crafted, achingly enchanting to the eye and profoundly tender.

On the surface it is a unique story of Black male experience growing up in inner city Miami in the 1980s. But Moonlight is shot through with mythic power. Cruelties are inflicted under the harsh glare of the sun while peace is found in the stillness of the night, in the call of the waves. As poet John Keats exclaimed 'a thing of beauty is a joy forever' and Moonlight will stay with us for a very long time... if you're still thinking about it, or are yet to experience its beauty, come and dive in to this special event...

Presented in partnership with Come the Revolution - a collective of curators, programmers and creatives from Bristol and Birmingham committed to exploring and challenging black life, experience and cultural expression through cinema.
