Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in Sept 2018

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

Glen Walton is a multidisciplinary artist currently visiting the studio from Melbourne, Australia. He creates interactive installations that invite the public to become musical collaborators. Glen comes from a more traditional theatre, comedy and music background so it has been a strange and winding path that has led him to his current exploration of experimental digital instruments and collective musical play.

In this talk he will discuss, play in public spaces and the development of work that embraces the spirit of DIY. Glen will also discuss findings from his recent Masters thesis which identifies ways to encourage the journey from 'observer' to 'participant' within public installations. Oh, and there will be some hands-on demos as well!

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to studio@watershed.co.uk.
