Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in Nov 2018

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

In this Lunchtime Talk Producer, lecturer and notorious ‘Chin of VR’, Verity McIntosh will be giving us a special preview of the brand-new MA in Virtual Reality, one of the first anywhere in the world, launching next January at UWE Bristol.

This unique and characteristically energetic ‘masters class’ (see what she did there) will include a rapid romp through the VR/XR scene, touching upon journalism, documentary, animation, gaming, theatre, music, enthusiastic estate agents and adult entertainment.

Verity will also offer a few provocations about some of the power structures already at play, where we might take this emergent medium next, and why we all need to ask better questions about what, and who this is all for.

This Lunchtime Talk is part of Digital Bristol Week 2018 and will take place in Cinema 3. After the talk you are invited to join us in the Pervasive Media Studio as part of Open Studio Friday, which takes place at the Studio every week.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to studio@watershed.co.uk.
