Six ex-convicts take up residence in a seaside town in Yoshida Saihachi’s latest Japanese Black Mirror-esque dark comedy.

The peaceful coastal city of Uobuka is suffering an immense decline in population. The government’s answer? Secretly bring in six convicted murderers and parole them for a period of 10 years. City official Tsukisue (Japanese pop idol Nishikido Ryo) is appointed to oversee the programme, but uneasiness begins to creep over the quiet town as he discovers the shocking truth of their crimes...

Based on the manga story by Yamagami Tatsuhiko and Igarashi Mikio, this weird and whimsical tale provides a thrilling mix of black comedy, romance and drama that shows us how to love our (unusual) neighbours despite their past.
