Inspired to Ride Q&A

Inspired to Ride (2015) by Mike Dion takes a look at the hardy souls competing in the 2014 inaugural Trans Am Bike Race across the breadth of America. On June 7 2014 forty-five cyclists from around the world set out on the inaugural Trans Am Bike Race, following the famed TransAmerica Trail.

Their mission was to cover 4,233 miles in one enormous stage race, traversing through ten states in an endurance cycle adventure of epic proportions. To make it even more tough, the riders are self-supported - no crew, no follow vehicles and no prize money waiting at the end - instead relying solely on fitness, meticulously chosen gear and some serious mental fortitude to get them to the finish.

We were delighted to be joined by TransAm rider and star of the film Mike Hall, who joined us after the film for a Q&A session. In this recording of the event, Mike talks about his experiences and sheds light on how cyclists prepare and compete. Mike Hall is joined on stage by John Ross, Bristol bike builder and endurance mountain bike racer, and the audience asks questions too.

Watch this video to hear about the ethos, challenges, and adventures of the incredible TransAm race and learn about what riding 300 miles a day really feels like with only a few hours sleep!
