Squidsoup is an international group of artists, researchers and designers (UK/NO/NZ) working with digital and interactive media experiences.

They worked with Watershed back in 2004 on a Clark Bursary project creating an online 3D experience (more information on DShed). They recently returned to join the Pervasive Media Studio, and this talk acts as an introduction to their work, and a welcome back to the community.

Squidsoup combine sound, physical space and virtual worlds to produce immersive and emotive headspaces where participants can take active control of their experience. We explore the modes and effects of interactivity, looking to make digital experiences where meaningful and creative interaction can occur.

Squidsoup’s work can be experienced online at www.squidsoup.org, and in shared spaces, physical and virtual installations, games and software tools.

This will be our first talk in the new Pervasive Media Studio space, within the Watershed building. Please enquire at the Watershed box office for directions.

Do you want to find out what is going on at the Pervasive Media Studio? Are you interested in meeting our residents, talking about a specific project or curious about pervasive media? Why not pack a sandwich and join us for one of our Lunchtime Talks and Open Studio Friday.

Lunchtime Talks are informal presentations by Studio residents and associates. They normally take place at 1pm on Friday, are free and open to everybody who’s interested in what we do.

After the Talk, we also invite you to stay with us for the afternoon to continue the conversation or work on your own projects. We provide chairs, tables, wireless and a great space. You bring what you need to work with (laptop/mobile). Our open afternoons close at 5pm.
