Researcher and composer, Dom Schlienger will be visiting the Studio on Tuesday to host an open meeting discussing local positioning systems. Join us for a coffee and a chat to share your experiences of the challenges and opportunities afforded by working with locative media.

Existing indoor and local positioning systems (I/LPS) provide a range of creative possibilities for interactive, immersive and spatial applications in audio technology. However, despite the availability of such systems, most people who work with them, or develop ideas around these concepts seem to find that the available technology does not provide them with what they require.

Have you had similar experiences? - Are you working with a system which works just fine for you?

With the view to developing suitable systems for gaming, multimedia, performance-art and dance and spatial music composition, Dom feels that these requirements need to be better established and would like to invite you to an informal exchange of ideas and thoughts.

Your contribution would help to formulate questions for a more extensive survey into the user requirements on I/LPS for interactive and immersive audio applications as part of his MSc in Audio Production. The findings would be made available to everybody involved, and possible resulting collaborations are encouraged!
