A year ago Hannah Nicklin and Seth Honnor gave a talk about a new idea they had for payments for live events that happen in a non-box office, online and mobile setting. A year later they're returning to tell you what they did next. It's no longer called Digital Hat, because one thing they've realised is that money isn't the important thing: value is, money arises from that, not the other way around. Out of social, relational value, donations of time and data as well as money, and the frameworks that enable that. So now the project is centred around building a powerful social listings engine that can help you find out what’s on that you want to go to, through who and want you choose to follow, and to develop a community around the live events that shape our lives – opening up questions of ‘value’, and asking you ‘what are you going to? What should I do?’
The digital hat function will still be a part of it. But now the key focus of our r&d process is about opening up a community around live events for the UK, and making it much easier to find things you want to do, and to engage with them.
So, Hannah and Seth will talk about what they've found halfway through the research and development process, including live demos of an early prototype, and a report on research questions being answered alongside the DCRC at UWE.

This Lunchtime Talk is part of Open Studio Friday, which takes place at the Studio every week.
Do you want to find out what is going on at the Pervasive Media Studio? Are you interested in meeting our residents, talking about a specific project or curious about pervasive media? Why not pack a sandwich and join us for one of our Lunchtime Talks and Open Studio Friday.
Lunchtime Talks are informal presentations by Studio residents and associates. They normally take place at 1pm on Friday, are free and open to everybody who’s interested in what we do.
After the Talk, we also invite you to stay with us for the afternoon to continue the conversation or work on your own projects. We provide chairs, tables, wireless and a great space. You bring what you need to work with (laptop/mobile). Our open afternoons close at 5pm.
Let us know if you’d like a tour of the space and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
