Isobel Tarr joins us to talk about HighWaterLine, a community-lead public art intervention project coming to Bristol this summer

In 2007, artist Eve Mosher used a football pitch marker to demarcate the flood-zones of her home town in New York. After Hurricane Sandy hit in 2012, flooding these same areas, she united with community organisers to develop the concept into a community-lead tool to open up conversations towards resilience to flooding, and to ignite real solutions.

In this talk, Isobel Tarr, Bristol resident and Community Organiser working in collaboration with Eve and others, explains why this project is coming to Bristol in July 2014, and what it's intentions and key principles are. With support from award-winning organisation Invisible Dust, HighWaterLine Bristol will bring together art, science, technology and community to address the challenges of climate resilience, using innovative methodology.

Learn how a diverse group of Bristol community members are coming together to use public intervention art, storytelling and a range of skills to re-imagine their communities for a resilient future. Discussions will include themes such as the role technology could play in a project about connection, community and resilience.

This Lunchtime Talk is part of Open Studio Friday, which takes place at the Studio every week.

Do you want to find out what is going on at the Pervasive Media Studio? Are you interested in meeting our residents, talking about a specific project or curious about pervasive media? Why not pack a sandwich and join us for one of our Lunchtime Talks and Open Studio Friday.

Lunchtime Talks are informal presentations by Studio residents and associates. They normally take place at 1pm on Friday, are free and open to everybody who’s interested in what we do.

After the Talk, we also invite you to stay with us for the afternoon to continue the conversation or work on your own projects. We provide chairs, tables, wireless and a great space. You bring what you need to work with (laptop/mobile). Our open afternoons close at 5pm.

Let us know if you’d like a tour of the space and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
