Venue: Cinema 3, Watershed (not in the Pervasive Media Studio this week)

The world is getting warmer – but how will this change our weather? And how might a changing climate disrupt our lives?

To celebrate Bristol’s status as European Green Capital, In Between Time has invited a conjurer of unusual weather, artist Fujiko Nakaya to the city. IBT has invited Nakaya to transform Pero's Bridge (one of Watershed's closest neighbours) into a Fog Bridge

Fujiko Nakaya is a world renowned installation and video artist who uses fog as a sculptural medium. Collaborating with the elements, her clouds are created by water pumped at high pressure through many micro-fine nozzles.

In addition to this brand new commission for Bristol on Pero's Bridge, you can experience her permanent fog landscapes at the Nakaya Ukichoro Museum of Snow and Ice in Ishikawa, Japan; the Australian National Gallery in Canberra; and the Jardin de L'Eau, in the Parc de la Villette, Paris. She recently created a fog sculpture for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao and transformed a bridge on the approach to San Franscisco's Exploratorium, bringing a new dynamic to the Bay area's ever changing environment.

Fujiko Nakaya will be joined on stage by Anne-Marie Duguet, her long time collaborator and the curator of the accompanying Fog Bridge exhibition at Arnolfini. Anne-Marie will lead the presentation and facilitate a discussion with the audience.

Watershed and the Pervasive Media Studio are pleased to join together with In Between Time festival to host the only talk that Fujiko Nakaya will give during this installation period. After the talk we will will lead a trip from Watershed to Pero's Bridge to allow you to experience Fog Bridge for yourself.

As with all of our lunchtime talks, this event is not ticketed and spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Arrive a little early to avoid disappointment.

This Lunchtime Talk is part of Open Studio Friday, which ordinarily takes place at the Studio every week, although this week is moving to Watershed’s Cinema 3 to accommodate as many people as possible.

Do you want to find out what is going on at the Pervasive Media Studio? Are you interested in meeting our residents, talking about a specific project or curious about pervasive media? Why not pack a sandwich and join us for one of our Lunchtime Talks and Open Studio Friday.

Lunchtime Talks are informal presentations by Studio residents and associates. They normally take place at 1pm on Friday, are free and open to everybody who’s interested in what we do.

After the Talk, we also invite you to stay with us for the afternoon to continue the conversation or work on your own projects. We provide chairs, tables, wireless and a great space. You bring what you need to work with (laptop/mobile). Our open afternoons close at 5pm.
